Bots
Crawler and bot traffic, and why it stays in your other reports.
Some visits come from programs, not people: search engine crawlers, link preview tools, AI crawlers, and others. Dodolytics marks these visits as bots. Open Bots in the sidebar to see them.
What you see
- Tiles: bots detected, bot sessions, and the most active bot.
- Bot types: the share of each type. Click a type to show only its bots.
- A table of bots with their type, visitors, sessions, pageviews, share, and when each was last seen.
- AI crawlers on your server: the visits of AI crawlers that your own server reports, why they came (assistant, search, or training), and the pages they read. See AI crawler tracking to set it up.
Bot types
- Search engines: for example Googlebot and Bingbot.
- Social previews: tools that make the preview card when someone shares your link.
- SEO tools
- AI crawlers
- Archivers
- Uptime monitors
- Unnamed: a program that says it is a bot, but is not on the list. It shows as "Unknown bot".
Bots in your other reports
Bot visits are marked, not removed. They still count in your other reports, such as the Dashboard and Pages. Use the Bots report to see how much of your traffic they are.
Most crawlers do not run JavaScript, so most of them never load the tracking script and are not recorded at all. To count AI crawlers, use AI crawler tracking. Detection uses the name that the program sends. A bot that acts like a normal browser is counted as a person.
