Exclude your own visits
Do not count your own browser, your office, or test pages.
Your own visits can make your numbers look higher than they are. Dodolytics has three ways to leave them out, and you can also leave out the visits from some countries. Visits from before a change stay in your reports.
Exclude your browser
- Open a website, then open Settings. Find the Exclude visits card.
- Under This browser, click the address. It is your domain with
?dodolytics_ignore=trueat the end. - Do this one time in each browser and on each device that you use.
The tracking script then keeps one value in that browser, and sends
nothing from it. To count the browser again, open your site with
?dodolytics_ignore=false at the end of the address.
A private window, and a browser that blocks site storage, do not keep the value. Visits from them are counted. If you clear your browser's site data, do the step again.
Exclude IP addresses
Use this for an office or a home network, so that every device there is left out.
- In the Exclude visits card, type the addresses in IP addresses, one on each line. You can add 50.
- To add the address that you use now, click Add my IP address.
- Click Save IP addresses.
An entry can be one address (203.0.113.7) or a range
(203.0.113.0/24). IPv6 works too. Pageviews and events
from these addresses are not counted.
Many home connections get a new IP address from time to time. If your visits show again, check the address in the list. For your own devices, the browser method above is more reliable.
Exclude countries
Use this when visits from a country do not matter to you, for example the country of your own team or a country that sends spam.
- In the Exclude visits card, type the two-letter codes in Countries, separated by commas, for example
US, DE, IN. You can add 50. - Click Save countries. The card then shows the names of the countries.
Pageviews and events from these countries are not counted. The country comes from Cloudflare (or from your proxy). A visit with no known country is always counted.
Local test visits
The script does not count visits on localhost,
127.0.0.1, or other local addresses. To test the script
on your own computer, add data-allow-localhost="true"
to the script tag.
Exclude pages
To leave out pages such as an admin area, add
data-exclude to the script tag. See
Tracking script options.
