Session Analytics
Session length, pages per session, and bounce rate.
Session Analytics shows how people visit: how long they stay, how many pages they read, and when they come. Open Sessions in the sidebar.
What is a session
A session is one visit. It starts with the first pageview and ends after 30 minutes without activity. If the same visitor comes back later, that is a new session.
The charts
- Pages per session: how many visits had 1 page, 2 pages, and more.
- Session duration: how many visits were short and how many were long.
- Sessions by hour of day and Sessions by day of week: when your visitors come. The busiest hour and day are marked. Hours and days are in the timezone of the website.
- New and returning visitors.
New and returning visitors
A visitor is new if Dodolytics first saw them in the selected period, and returning if it saw them before the period started.
Dodolytics does not use cookies, and it recognizes a visitor for one day only. So most visitors show as new. A returning visitor is usually one who also visited earlier on the same day.
Use it to
- Choose the best time to post, send a newsletter, or do maintenance.
- See if a content change makes visits longer.
