Report filters

Filter every report by page, source, campaign, country, device, and more.

A filter shows only the visits that match it. For example, filter by the country "Germany" to see the pages, sources, and devices of visitors from Germany only.

Add a filter

  1. Open a report. Under the report's title, click Filter.
  2. Choose what to filter by, for example Country.
  3. Type or choose a value. The list suggests values from your data in the selected period.
  4. Click Apply. The filter shows as a chip under the title.

To add one more filter, click Add filter. To remove one, click the × on its chip. To remove all, click Clear all.

What you can filter by

  • Page: visits that viewed this page at any time.
  • Landing page: visits that started on this page.
  • Hostname: visits on one domain or subdomain.
  • Referrer: the site the visit came from, for example news.ycombinator.com.
  • Channel: the channel of the visit, as the Sources report shows it, for example AI or Organic Search.
  • UTM source, UTM medium, UTM campaign.
  • Country, Region, City.
  • Device, Browser, OS.
  • Visitor: new (the first visit of a visitor) or returning (a visitor with an earlier visit). The visitor code changes every day, so "returning" means an earlier visit on the same day, or an earlier visit of a person that you identify with analytics.identify().

Match many pages at once

End a page path with * to match every page that starts with it. For example, /blog/* matches /blog/, /blog/first-post, and all other pages under /blog/.

How filters work

  • Filters apply to whole visits. A pageview or an event counts when its visit matches.
  • Two or more filters must all match (AND).
  • The filters stay when you open another report of the same website, when you export a CSV file, and in Real-time.
  • The filters are in the page address, so you can bookmark a filtered report or share its link with a team member.
  • Revenue, Settings, and the Globe have no filters.

A filtered report can take a little longer to load on a long date range, because Dodolytics counts it from the raw data.
