Import from Plausible

Bring your old Plausible data into Dodolytics.

If you used Plausible before, you can bring your old data into Dodolytics. The imported days then show in your reports next to the data that Dodolytics records itself.

1. Export your data from Plausible

  1. In Plausible, open the settings of your site.
  2. Open Imports & Exports, then click Export data.
  3. Download the zip file when it is ready.

2. Upload it to Dodolytics

  1. Open the website in Dodolytics, then open Settings. Find the Import from Plausible card.
  2. Choose the zip file. You can also choose the CSV files from the zip.
  3. Click Import. A message tells you which days were imported.

The upload can be 1 MB at most. If your zip file is larger, unzip it and upload only the CSV files that you need. The file whose name starts with imported_visitors is always necessary.

What is imported

  • Dashboard: visitors, visits, pageviews, bounce rate, and visit duration, for each day.
  • Pages: top pages, entry pages, and exit pages.
  • Sources: where the visitors came from.
  • Countries: countries only. Regions and cities are not imported.
  • Devices: device types, browsers, and operating systems.

Custom events, goals, and the other reports are not imported.

Which days are imported

Dodolytics imports only the days before the first day of its own data for this website. So no day is counted twice. If your Plausible export has later days, the message tells you how many days were left out.

Two imports cannot have the same days. To import the same period again, delete the old import first.

Good to know

  • While a report filter is on, the reports do not show imported days. Plausible's export does not have the detail that a filter needs.
  • To remove imported data, click Delete next to the import in the same card. Your own Dodolytics data does not change.
