Dashboard
The overview of a website: its tiles, your #1 KPI, and notes on the chart.
The Dashboard is the first page of each website. It shows the main numbers for the selected date range, a chart, a map, and your visitors' devices.
The tiles
Each tile shows a number for the selected period, and the change against the previous period of the same length.
- Unique visitors: the number of different visitors.
- Sessions: the number of visits. A visit ends after 30 minutes without activity.
- Pageviews: the number of pages viewed.
- Pages / session: the average number of pages in one visit.
- Avg. session duration: the average length of a visit.
- Bounce rate: the percentage of visits with only one pageview.
- Events: the number of custom events.
- Conversions: the number of goal completions.
- Revenue: the revenue in the period. This tile shows only after you connect revenue.
- Conversion rate: the percentage of unique visitors who completed at least one goal.
- Revenue per visitor: the revenue in the period divided by the unique visitors.
Dodolytics does not use cookies. It recognizes a visitor with a code that changes every day. So one person who visits on three different days counts as three unique visitors in a range of several days.
Show or hide tiles
- Open the website and click Settings in the sidebar.
- Find the Dashboard tiles card.
- Select the tiles you want, and clear the others.
- Click Save dashboard.
You can choose which tiles show, but not their sequence. A new website shows all tiles except Avg. session duration, Events, Conversions, Conversion rate, and Revenue per visitor.
Your #1 KPI
Choose the one number that matters most to you, for example signups or revenue. It then shows as the first tile, with a #1 KPI tag.
- Open Settings and find the Dashboard tiles card.
- Under #1 KPI, select a tile or a goal.
- Click Save KPI.
A goal shows its number of completions in the period. The KPI shows also if you cleared its tile. To remove it, select None.
The chart
The chart shows visitors over the selected period. A second, lighter line shows the previous period, so you can compare them. When revenue is connected, the chart shows revenue too.
- Chart a different number: click a tile, for example Bounce rate. The chart then shows that number over the period, with the previous period as a dashed line. The tile you clicked has a short line under it. Click Unique visitors to go back.
- New and returning visitors: on the visitors chart, click New and returning. The chart then shows two lines: new visitors and returning visitors. Click the button again to go back.
A returning visitor is a visitor with an earlier visit. Because the visitor code changes every day, this is an earlier visit on the same day, or an earlier visit of a person that you identify.
Chart notes
Add a note to mark a day on the chart, for example "Launched on Product Hunt" or "New pricing page". A note shows as a dashed line with a dot on that day. Point to the day to read the note. The notes of the period are also listed under the chart.
- Open Settings and find the Chart notes card.
- Select the date and type the note. A note can have up to 100 characters.
- Click Add note. To remove a note, click Delete beside it.
- On a weekly chart, a note shows on the week that has its day.
- On a chart of one day (by hour), notes show only in the list under the chart.
- A website can have up to 500 notes.
The map and devices
- Visitors by location: a world map. Darker countries have more visitors. Click View on Globe to open a large map on the Globe page.
- Devices: the top device types, browsers, and operating systems.
- Latest journeys: the most recent visitors and the pages they opened. See Journeys and Users.
Live mode
Choose Real-time in the date selector. The tiles and lists then update by themselves. See Date ranges and pinned ranges.
